Potassium's Role in Fighting Heat Stress Research has shown that a positive DCAD (between +35 and +45 meq/100g of ration dry matter) increases fat-corrected milk. Added potassium increases DCAD in the ration and also helps sweating, as potassium is the primary regulator of sweat gland secretion. Suggested potassium feeding rate is 1.8% during periods of high ambient temperature.
